At Risk

Mental health is the outcome of one activity. Findings suggest several, interlinking explanations. Genetics, environments, and fashion impact if somebody has a psychological health status.
Mental health is a medical certification. It is a common disease that affects the person's thinking, emotion, behavior, and also functional impairments. Stressful work or family experience makes some people more vulnerable to such traumatic moments as being the victim of a crime.
For your information, there have 356 cases related to suicide between year 2014 until 2019. There has 1.2 percent the person who are became registered psychiatrist over 100 000 population in this country.
Because of this current situation which we need to face with coronavirus or Covid-19, 44 percent Malaysian said that covid-19 has affected their mental illness.
The current landscape of health problems in Malaysia at present Covid-19 disease is the first place among the people. However, mental health problems are also in third place in Malaysia. This shows that many people are suffering from mental illness. Apart from that, the current landscape of health problems in Malaysia that affects Malaysians is cancer which is in second place, obesity in fourth place and fifth place is diabetes.

According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) in 2019, a total of 424,000 children in Malaysia have been suffering from mental illness problems, while as many as a quarter a Malaysian adults experience functional difficulties.
NHMS stated that 8.4 percent or 35,616 children of girls had mental health problems while 9.5 percent or 40,280 children aged between 10 and 15 years have mental health issues.
Also stated that 8.8 percent or 37,312 children from the rural population suffer from mental health problems, while 9.2 percent or 39,008 children from the bottom 40 percent (B40) income group have mental health issues.
The NHMS listed the contributors to children’s mental health problems by domain, with the majority coming from problems with peers which is 42.9 percent or 181,896 children, the children who conduct problems made up 15.9 percent or 67,416 children, the children who have emotional problems made up 8.3 percent or 35,192 children, and the remaining 2.3 percent or 9,752 children who had hyperactivity issues.


NHSM reported that 2.3% or 749,800 people which is about a half of millions of Malaysian peoples suffer from mental illness issues.
Also reported that the highest prevalence of mental illness among states is WP Putrajaya with 5.4 percent or 40,489 people followed by Negeri Sembilan with 5.0 percent or 37,490 people, Perlis with 4.3 percent or 32,241 people, Sabah with 4.0 percent or 29,992 people, and Melaka with 3.8 percent or 28,492 people.
Females were also reported to suffer the mental health issue more than men at 2.6 percent or 19,495 people, which male counterparts reported at 2.0 percent or 14,996 people. As for the statistics of those at risk of mental illness, the rural population was reported to be more at risk than the urban population at 3.6 percent or 26,993 people compared to 1.9 percent or 14,246 people.
The majority of mental illnesses coming from a single person with 3.2 percent or 23,994 people, followed by the divorced couples with 2.0 percent or 14,996 people and married couples with 1.8 percent or 13,496 people.
NHMS listed the household income in Malaysia. It reported 55.1 percent or 413,140 people from the bottom 40 adults’ income have mental health issues, followed by the middle 40 adults’ income with 34.7 percent or 260,181 people and top 20 adults’ income with 10.2 percent or 76,480 people.
